What is excess on an insurance policy?

Simply put, the excess is the contribution you are required to pay towards a claim made on your car insurance policy.

This means that in the event of a claim, you would pay the amount of the excess towards the total cost of the claim, and your insurer will pay and remaining money up to the total of the policy limit.

How does excess protection work?

If you’ve got excess protection and have to make a claim, then you’ll still need to pay the excess initially but will then have that money paid back to you.

There are different levels of excess protection, which will cover you for different levels of excess. These different options are:

• £300 of excess protection, which costs £24.99 per year
• £500 of excess protection, which costs £34.99 per year
• £1,000 of excess protection, which costs £44.99 per year

Can I add excess protection to an existing policy?

Yes, you can add excess protection if you’ve already got an insurance policy through Just Kampers Insurance.
