Hello all, its Travelling Uncle Mat here again! While attending the fabulous Skeg Vegas show that I raved about in my last offering over on Just Kampers, my partner Sonia and I had the pleasure of staying at Layby Lincs in the Lincolnshire Wolds AONB.
Layby Lincs is owned and run by our lovely and incredibly welcoming hosts Alex and Louise who have done an amazing job in creating this eco and dog friendly idyll.
In overview it is a beautifully situated and very well-appointed adults only glamping site centred around five vintage vehicle conversions, each in their own secluded spots in what is best described as a nature reserve with pond, fruit trees and abundant wildlife.
These five glamping vehicles are:
- Peggy Sue the Airstream caravan,
- Alabama the Chevy RV,
- Gee Gee the racehorse transporter,
- Dennis the fire engine, and
- Willy the Ford camper special which was our home for the weekend.

The vehicles have been carefully and characterfully decorated and furnished with no detail or comfort overlooked by Alex and Louise.
Each lot has a wood fired hot tub that is fired up and managed by the host at your request and adds a true feel of luxury to your stay, a perfect way to end your day, stargazing in the tub with a drink your hand, pure decadence!
Each setup is an ingenious combination of the base vehicle connected to a raised and covered decking which in turn is connected to a fully equipped and modern ‘rainfall shower’ and toilet room.
The covered decking space includes the cooking area with hob, full size fridge, festoon lighting, BBQ, fire pit and seating area.

The attention to detail is very evident and makes for an extremely comfortable and restful stay. There is hot and cold air-conditioning in all shower rooms and vehicles allowing for all season comfort, bath robes and slippers for the hot tub, a well-equipped kitchen, luxurious period décor and furnishings, proper beds and deep mattresses, board games and complimentary fudge await your arrival, and all at very reasonable cost.
Please check out their website, thelaybylincs.co.uk for current rates and more information.
The Layby Lincs is open until the 10th of November and there is availability for Halloween and Fire Works Night, especially for those with nervous dogs who want to get away from all the noise and disturbance!
Hot off the press is also that bookings can be made for New Years Eve and Valentine’s Day, I couldn’t imagine a better place to be with that special person at Valentine’s.

In summary, The Layby Lincs is perfectly suited for both seasoned and reluctant glampers and campers alike due to its beautiful setting, a real crossover between glamping and a hotel with bespoke home from home comfort and facilities and the ever available but completely unobtrusive attentions of the fabulous hosts, Alex and Louise.
Whether you want to stay for few nights to explore the area or need a stopping off point for a night on a longer trip, the Layby Lincs will not disappoint you and I whole heartedly encourage you to visit and then pass on the good word to your friends about this new found gem.
